Food & Beverage companies sell some of the most recognizable brands that span global markets and cultures — and feed millions of people worldwide every day. These companies spend billions of dollars annually on multi-media advertising and social marketing campaigns to reinforce corporate branding and gain mind share among consumers. But how well do their websites work?
We Studied Our Options
To find out, the siteIQ team decided to add the Food & Beverage industry to the 2020 Usability Index so we could identify and evaluate leading sites in this sector. As is par for the course, we did our research to determine top-ranking Fortune 500 businesses within the segment then did some preliminary evaluations of their websites.
We Made a Short List
Once we crunched those initial numbers, we settled on a list of 20 sites across four segments to add to the Usability Index roster. This includes eight Consumer Products properties and four sites each in the Beverage, Food Production, and Food Services sectors. Specifically, these sites include:
We Put the Finalists to the Test
At present, the evaluation team is conducting their inaugural review of these sites using the Food & Beverage version of the siteIQ Usability Benchmark, which includes 161 questions that measure website usability from the visitor’s point of view. A second review recategorizes these questions into 16 Usability Dimensions that illustrate how well each website is aligned to common user activities and expectations.
We’re Waiting for the Results
Naturally, we’re all curious to see which of these megabrands will claim victory in what is sure to be a very close race. Unfortunately, in the meantime, we can only speculate which site will be the winner overall.

siteIQ evaluated the 20 Food & Beverage Websites listed on the 2020 siteIQ Usability Index. These Websites are categorized into four industry-specific segments including:

These in-depth evaluations were conducted using the 2020 edition of the siteIQ Usability Index Best Practices Benchmark, which tracks results in 8 sub-categories and 16 Usability Dimensions.
